The recommended car rentals in Green Bay are an intermediate or standard SUV with all-wheel-drive capability. Green Bay is not nearly as crowded as a major metropolitan city and a large vehicle, such as an SUV, will do just fine. All-wheel drive is easier to use for inexperienced winter drivers than four-wheel drive, as the rotation rate of the tires adjusts to your turns and makes the drive smoother.
The maximum speed limit for residential roads is 35mph, though Wisconsin has a "reasonable and prudent law" that holds drivers responsible for slowing down in the event of dangerous road conditions, such as snow, ice, or fog. This also applies to areas with construction workers and pedestrians. Any school zones or areas where children are present, such as parks and playgrounds, have a strict speed limit of 15mph. Freeways and interstates near urban regions have a speed limit of 65mph, but increase to 70mph as you reach rural areas.
Parking in downtown Green Bay costs approximately $1 per hour, with a variety of parking options. There are parking ramps on Pine Street, Main Street, and Cherry Street, along with meters throughout the downtown area to purchase street parking. There are nearly twenty parking lots across the downtown area with over 1,000 spaces. If you are looking to park near Lambeau Field for a Packers game, you can pay for parking at one of the sixteen lots surrounding the stadium for around $20. However, these spots fill up quickly and you might need to park further outside the stadium area and walk to the game.
On average a rental car in Green Bay costs $81 per day. But prices differ between operators and you can save money through a price comparison of car rental deals from different agencies. The cheapest price for a car rental in Green Bay found in the last 2 weeks is $46.
In the past 72 hours, the cheapest rental cars were found at Enterprise Rent-A-Car ($45/day) and Alamo ($47/day).
The average gas price in Green Bay is $3.89 per gallon over the past 30 days. Filling up a gas tank costs between $47 and $62, depending on the car size.

No, there are not many at all. Kompelling Kars is one of the few cheap car rentals in Green Bay downtown. There are a number of car rental agencies to the south of Green Bay, including three Enterprise Rent-A-Cars, two Hertz Car Rentals, and one Avis. There is one Budget on the western curve of the bay, but no car rental agencies on the Eastern curve of the bay. There are also no agencies northwest of the city.
If you and your friends or family are traveling in the rental car you secured through KAYAK from one of the cheap car rentals in Green Bay, it is important to know Wisconsin’s rules regarding carpool or High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes. Throughout most of Wisconsin, you need only two people in the car, the driver plus one, to be eligible for a carpool lane. However, some lanes require minimum occupancy of four people in the car. So, make sure you pay attention to signage before you enter a carpool lane so that you do not get a ticket.

Jul 2019
Pros:
Just a good experience all around. No issues.5.6 Fair
Apr 2019
Pros:
Staff friendly. Car was clean.Cons:
A lot of attempts to upsell (car type, insurance, etc). Agreed to more for a little larger car (had thought I booked larger than compact) for comfort. Car was 2+ years old with very basic features. (No electric seat adjustment, seats rather uncomfortable, windshield wiper broken)5.2 Fair
Jan 2019
Pros:
The car, a Malibu, was great, except for wiper blade. Counter people friendly.Cons:
1. No free parking for my clunker 2. Bad wiper blade on passenger side. I went back to desk and was offered a different car, which I accepted. That car had the same problem but I just put up with it. 3. I would like to have been able to have the car owners manual so I could learn how the audio system functions6.0 Okay

Cons:
Hard for me to call a Chevy impala a “premium” car. Car had 20k plus miles, it had been ridden hard and put up wet.10.0 Wonderful
Mar 2018
Pros:
Checking in was a breeze. It took mere minutes to get our rental and be on our way. Checking in was just as easy. The car was clean inside and out when we picked it up. The rental rate for the weekend was very competitive and economical.Cons:
Would like to see rentals with optional Sirrus or similar radio available as an option.10.0 Wonderful
Oct 2017
Pros:
When there was a question on my rate, theirs differed from what was quoted, they sent me on my way so I could get my vacation started while they took a copy of my quote and worked it out. By the time I got to my destination, I had a voicemail telling me it was all taken care of and she just wanted me to know right away so I wasn't thinking about it all weekend.3 locations in Green Bay

Mar 2021
Cons:
No one from hertz looked over the rental car With me for condition prior to taking out the car. And though the location was open at 9am for our return there was no one at the location on our arrival until 9:55a. Moreover I was Told that my card was denied when hertz put in the incorrect amount. Had the correct amount been inputted into the system the credit card would have worked fine. First and Last time using Hertz.4.0 Mediocre
Dec 2020
Pros:
Easy drop off and pick up and friendly staff.Cons:
Staff has been trained to push the upsell - so I was goaded into getting an upgrade for what was billed as a great deal, a fraction of what the car usually goes for, only to find my bill at the end of the trip was $600 instead of the originally booked $300. Not at all happy about being suckered into that.6.4 Okay
Dec 2019
Pros:
Staff was friendly, pickup/drop-off were standard, no complaints.Cons:
Smallest car I've ever rented, the comparable vehicle shown online and what was available in that class were two different things. I own the car that was shown on hertz.com for that class, and the car that I rented was definitely a step down.10.0 Wonderful
Oct 2019
Pros:
Picking up the car was easy, staff person reminded us that hybrid cars do not make engine noise on start up, and the gave us directions out of the airport, very helpful. The small airport meant it was a short walk to the rental parking lot, which is well marked. We were delighted to rent a hybrid car.Cons:
Would have appreciated a drop off box for keys, as rental contract included unlimited mileage. We waited behind a family choosing car seats for their small children, which took awhile. We were sympathetic and thankfully, not in a hurry. If we were in a rush, waiting behind those picking up a car just to turn in keys would have been nerve-wracking.8.0 Very good

Drove 9 miles total and they said I used over a gallon of gas. I didn’t even think I drove that far. The gauge never moved from full. They charged me $20 more for it. I dropped it off at the airport for a flight so I can’t go back and dispute this in person. It’s just appalling.7.6 Good

Pros:
Honestly.... nothing!! I’ll never rent from Avis again.Cons:
To much to list!!! But I guess the most frustrating thing was the fact I was downgraded to a vehicle because the original vehicle had a cracked windshield and I wasn’t compensated, I should have been UPGRADED! Or offered a major discount, after driving 10 hours in a lesser vehicle that was extremely less comfortable, I was furious.10.0 Wonderful
