Top tips for finding cheap flights to Sierra Leone

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Sierra Leone flight deals.
  • If you are departing from the central regions of the United States to Sierra Leone, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) will be your likely departure airport. The airport serves as the hub and the region’s operating base for American Airlines. DFW is therefore an ideal departure point for the region’s American Airlines travelers to Sierra Leone.
  • Lungi International Airport (FNA) is the main airport in Sierra Leone. It is based in the country’s capital, Freetown. If you will be flying to Sierra Leone from the USA, your likely destination is FNA. From FNA, you can fly to other airports in different parts of the country, such as Kabala, Kenema, and Bo airports.
  • Other than DFW, there is another airport in Dallas, Texas: Dallas Love Field (DAL). It is an alternative departure airport for Dallas travelers flying to Sierra Leone. DAL is the region’s main hub and an operating base for arguably one of the biggest low-cost carriers, Southwest Airlines. The airline will cheaply take you to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), where you can board your flight to Sierra Leone.
  • If you intend to travel from the East Coast of the United States to Sierra Leone, your most convenient departure airport would be John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York. As the primary transatlantic hub and operating base for Delta Air Lines, JFK is the departure airport for Delta Airlines’ East Coast travelers going to Sierra Leone.
  • If you are planning to fly to Sierra Leone to witness Tangains Festival, which is held around Easter in April on an annual basis, please note that the festival attracts travelers from African countries and other parts of the world, Europe and United States included. You will therefore pay more on the airfares to Sierra Leone due to the possible fare hiking that the increasing demand may cause.
  • To travel from the United States to Sierra Leone in the minimum possible time, consider using the New York-Freetown route. Besides offering single-stop flights that will minimize your travel time, the route’s departure point, the New York-New Jersey area, features multiple airports offering flights from the United States to Sierra Leone. Among these airports are LaGuardia (LGA), John F. Kennedy International (JFK), and Newark Liberty International (EWR).
  • If your final destinations in Sierra Leone are located in the southern parts of Kenema, such as Gola Rainforest National Park and the Sierra Leone National Museum, consider using Kenema Airport (KEN). Since the airport doesn’t serve international flights, you will need to connect from FNA via the pocket-friendly Sierra National Airlines.

Overnight flight in the old style Business class, but still very good.

I was in business class, without the business class amenities. Large seat with lots of legroom, but no TV or bed. Food was okay, but I did enjoy the Turkish red wine.

Excellent service and comfort from the moment you check in. Flight crew is hyper focused on making passengers comfortable and at ease. It’s like a flying hotel!

Only chicken as a meat dish through out the flight

Nothing really was great as such. Seen other no name airlines perform better.

Quality of service on board was very inconsistent. FA service primarily seemed robotic and they barely engaged with passengers

I’m unclear why I had to pay extra for assigned seats as Turkish airlines did not honor the seating. We were placed across the aisle from each other on TK 34, and were seated behind one another on TK 694. Because my name was misspelled on e-ticket (Klawiter, instead of Klawitter) I could not log onto website to get the connection gate number in Istanbul. The monitors in the airport were a jumbled mess 1/2 Arabic and 1/2 English.

On line check in needs a lot of improvement. I tried and gave up.

Food not good, flight attendants not the best, not accommodating very ruff

the female flight attendant was racist towards me. I could tell she treated the two other passengers next to me with more softness.

We liked the fully reclinable seats. Had center seats, so it was difficult to talk to spouse. Crew was great

Aisle chair was good and liked the foot bar preventing you from putting your foot in the isle, The breakfast on this international flight to Zurich was horrible (Europeans, specially, used to good food) may make this a dealbreaker for booking with United Airlines again. I agreed with my Spanish fellow passenger.

Dinner was okay but the breakfast was not eatable on the flight San Francisco to Zurich.

There was no screens on board AND the WiFi didn’t work. My seat was broken and couldn’t recline so I couldn’t even sleep. The flight attendants didn’t offer anything to make it more comfortable. It was such an old cramped plane, when the person in front of me reclined I couldn’t even open my tray table. All the United ads talk about guaranteeing everyone gets a screen!

The Wi-Fi was unavailable on this flight for some reason.

The flight was delayed almost 2 hours. Bad customer service etc. I will never fly Luthansa. Ever!!!

On time take off…US cabins look tired and need of refresh!

Fine. Though no food or entertainment so the survey needs to be updated with those options.

Backpack should NOT allowed put in the flight bin , only put it under the seat. I can't find space put my carry on luggage!!! and I pay for it ! that was very bad experience

Fantastic. Smooth boarding with an infant. Never experienced it with any other carriers.

I missed my connecting flight due to long lines at security and immigration. Need improvements

Food quality is deteriorating each time, last year was very good. I avoid the plane food lately.

Been flying on various airlines, all over the world, for 50+ years. The food on Brussels Air was easily the worst I ever endured.

I felt the overall quality of the plane and food service was less than that of their partner airlines, United. An example was wine was served in paper cups in premium economy class. There was no real silverware, napkins or a welcome kit other than a pillow and blanket.

Boarding time was a bit slow causing the flight to not leave right at 5 pm,but other than that it was fine.

I like the frequent mails we get when there is an update. Please keep it up

in the front - higher class of business - sitting in the same seat (with one empty in the middle) is not acceptable any more. need the business class to be as we paid for.

More than one hour detail with no explanation and no compensation

my husband's monitor did not work. there was a visibly ill family in my husband's row.

There was a two hour delay because of incompetence in scheduling fuel truck. Further, upon arrival in Roanoke, hand baggage was sent to baggage claim. We carry hand baggage because it contains valuable or sensitive materials that we do not want going through the baggage system. This is very poor and United needs to perform better.

There were some things that were not maintained well on the plane. There were foot rests that didn’t elevate for myself and my son in law. The flight attendants were excellent. Boarding in Senegal was chaotic.

Everything could have been better. The food was bad, the service was bad, and the flight staff were not very friendly.

I had surgery on both of my legs in February 2022 and the flight was booked in March. The purpose of booking business class was to have an opportunity to stretch my legs due to the surgery. The flight going and coming was so difficult for me because the seats were broken, I have video and pictures of this horrible flight and a report from my surgeon regarding the this. It is unfortunate that I will have to get a lawyer to get a refund and sue this airline. I have sent them correspondence regarding the incident as well as the Better Business Bureau and they refuse to respond.

After paying for business class, we were given anything but business. They used a rented plan from China that had no inflight entertainment, the seats were broken and besides that, we had a 15-hour layover in Dakar. The same problems existed on the return flight. The flight from New York to Baltimore was the worst, the flight attendance decided to have a personal conversation and I am guessing that because there were only three passengers in business class, that they did not have to give the emergency announcement and proceeded to carry on their personal conversation during the entire flight. Worst travel experience of my life!

First time in my life that i had a 5hrs delay with no agent to give us any explanation...We had a very bad experience with Air Senegal...while Senegal is a nice country to visit but the Air Sénégal airline is very bad in customer service...

normal business seats with sufficient leg room. good food. no entertainment whatsoever

Very comfortable flat bed. Perfect for overnight sleeping. Interesting that a dozen wheel chairs were provided to the elderly that have been walking teh whole evening only for them to board eaely. Made a joke that HC408 stood fo handicapped.

Flat bed !!!! and even free wifi !!! offered in business class. Price was 50% of competition. I came from ABJ and price was the same. Had phantastic fresh ornage juice for breakfast. All flights over the atlantic are like that. The rechecking of luggage and waiting time to go in same plane to BWI was a bit of a pain. Might make more sense to continue travel directly in JFK. For example we arrived early at 6 am in JFK but continuation at 9am and security only opens at 7.30am

Pretty good flights! If they can let y u s know regarding delays by announcing it in the PA system it would be a good business practice!

While I had a business class ticket I wasn’t given priority to boar. Again my luggage had priority tags and these bags didn’t come out till the end!! The food at the lounge was only two type of sandwiches and warm juices and soft drinks I thought I’m paying for good services but the least u can say it’s mediocre at best. I’m considering not to use TAM AGAIN.

The service was terrible. We weren’t allowed to take water on the flight and the drinks were offered only at the end of the meal. When we used the button to call the flight attendants, they never showed up and when my daughter’s drink was spilled due to turbulences, she asked for something to clean her pants at least 4 times and eventually they gave her a tissue. The flight attendants were rude and overall the flight was terrible!

Delays with no communication. Broken business class seat and no one seems to care or help.

Adequate. Served our purpose of getting there safely. Nothing to rave about. Decent value for the amount paid

Old planes that are not being maintained with at least basic cleaning. Plane smells awful, bathrooms not cleaned either. Very uncomfortable chair. Customer service probably one of the worst I have experienced. The AC dis not work, kept us on the plane for over an hour with no water and air condition

I lost my connection flight from Casablanca to Marrakech because we arrived late to Casablanca. I had to rent a car to continue my trip . I need refunds

The plane was new, clean and nice. The crew was very attentive and pleasant. The food wasn’t great, though - even in business class…

Pros: "It got us to Casablanca. Should have taken a car though"
Cons: "The plane sat on the runway at over 100 F and the A/C was not on. They barely started it once we were in the air"
Pros: "The attendants were much more helpful than my last trip. Everything went well."
Cons: "I thought it was too crowded during the pandemic. Too many people on the flight. One man behind me kept sneezing so that was concerning. No other complaints for this trip but most of my previous trips were close to terrible. Thanks for improving your service."
